According to Covey, “in a high-trust relationship, you can say the wrong thing, and people will still get your meaning. In a low-trust relationship, you can be very measured, even precise, and they’ll still misinterpret you.” So, it begs the question can trust be built and if so how. Covey contends: “We can increase trust—much faster than we might think—and doing so will have a huge impact, both in the quality of our lives and in the results we’re able to achieve.”

However, one thing that is difficult to find is helpful material on how to avoid losing leadership influence. While I found the quote to be very insightful, it was even more interesting to me after learning that he kept this on the door of his office at Princeton.
